The Music Hall was built in 1914 by architects Patton, Holmes and Flinn from Chicago. It is the first of 9 buildings on Carleton campus that were designed by the same architects, and the start of the Cowling Era of architecture at Carleton.
The Music Hall was built for the Music Department at Carleton, and was used for recording studios, practice rooms, etc. until the Music Department outgrew the space and eventually moved to the Weitz Center for Creativity in 2017.
